Non-Hemin Iron Content of Human Fetal Livers in Various Stages of Gestation

Abstract
|
|
|
Present study concerns quantitative observation on non-hemin iron content and it´s fraction pat-terns in human fetal livers by mothods of Yoneyama-Konno and Bruckmann-Zondeck.
The materials were collected from 22 cases of human fetuses which range between 15 weeks and 38 weeks of gestation.
The results of experiment are summerized as follow
1. Mean value of non-hemin iron content in human fetal livers is 27.5 2.74 mg%, and the range is 2334 mg%.
2. Nlean values and percentages of non-hemin iron fractions in the same materials are as fol:~ow
P´, (hemosiderin) fraction is 6.4 0.89mg (~%)
P´Z (ferritin) fraction is 14.3 1.45mg% (52 %)
S´ fraction is 4.40.86mg%(16%) Sa fraction is 2.30.55mg%(9%)
3. In non-hemin iron and it´s fractions, no significant variation were observed through the period of fetal growth and set.
